The ever-present
Presence
of the
Present
a
Present
Gifted to
those seeking its warm embrace
Remedy
for dis-ease
Cure for
living in worlds
“Has been”
“What was”
“Yet-to-come”
The ever-present
Presence
of the
Present
Is our
natural state
Known well
to little ones and wise elders
Sought by
those in between (if they even care to seek)
The ever-present
Presence
of the
Present
a
Present
That offers
itself to us at this precious moment
And next
hour
And all
of tomorrow
Fear not
as you reach to greet its embrace
Note: This piece brought me back to the second piece in this Writing to Heal blog, a prose piece about the Superpower of Being Present. Feel free to revisit that piece!
Yes, a refreshing reminder of your rhythmic side.
ReplyDeleteThe Now is all that is real, the past has brought us to this present moment, all of it, the worst and the best.
The future extends from the present moment with all the intentions we create. Time to meditate!
The here and now escapes us. It's slippery... we are constantly being pushed towards the future while we hold on to our past so tight our fingernails bleed. That's the thing I clumsily discovered on a stage as a child.
ReplyDeleteMy dad taught me about "the ministry of presence" from a young age, how simply spending time with others who are struggling is helpful, in the here and now, with little concern for what's come before or what will come after, with few words (if any). During the CoVID-19 Pandemic, we've all been missing that physical togetherness which transcends words and allows us to simply 'be' in the moment. While it's been a great time to nurture the art of solitude and reflection, of awareness and insight, it's been more challenging to stay in touch with our family, friends, and neighbors without that physical togetherness in the here and now. I hope we can keep holding on to the idea, so we can make it real again when the time is right. Blessings... JR.
